a quote from marx (via tricia irwin)

"Owners of capital will stimulate the working class to buy more and more of expensive goods, houses and technology, pushing them to take more and more expensive credits, until their debt becomes unbearable. The unpaid debt will lead to bankruptcy of banks, which will have to be nationalized, and the State will have to take the road which will eventually lead to communism".

--Karl Marx, Das Kapital, 1867

Nostradamus Marx. I don't remember if Marx-Engels or Lenin said when the level of poverty, the economic conditions are unbearable that eventually would lead to spontaneous revolutions, that is, the objective conditions. Then you would have the subjective conditions like the presence of some leader, intellectuals perhaps to help the inevitable happen. It is also suggested that for the new systems to work Socialism should appear in many countries at the same time so they are not affected by the influence of Capitalism. The problem is that Socialism is a failure and was said to precede Communism. Evidently we need a new -ism but we don't have the slightest idea how it looks like and evidently it must be different from neoliberalism. Communism sounds really bad but as an idea means something nice. Whatever the future brings will evolve from our mistakes.
